The Lock-it Block-it is a theft deterrent home security burglar bar that sits in your window track and blocks the window from being forced open beyond an adjusted set point. The Lock-it Block-it is made to fit in upright windows, sliding windows, and sliding doors with tracks that are a minimum 1 inch wide. The device is perfectly suited for Single Hung windows. Because the top portions of Single-Hung windows are manufactured not to be opened, criminals can't reach in to remove the Lock-it Block-it.
How secure is the Lock-it Block-it?
The Lock-it Block-it is very secure because the top of the device is firmly butted up against the top corner of the window frame. When the bottom window comes in contact with the Lock-it Block-it, the device can't be moved. Also, the Velcro adhesive, which holds the Lock-it Block-it in place, isn't compromised at all because the device doesn't move. However, it is very important that the Lock-it Block-it be inserted properly. Make sure the head of the device is firmly butted up against the top of the window frame so that it can't be moved. It's also important to check the Lock-it Block-it periodically to make sure it remains secured in its position. Over time, gravity will cause the Velcro to slip. Simply replace the Velcro and reinsert the device.

To protect toddlers and young children from accidently falling out of windows, experts recommend that windows should not be opened more than 4 inches max. How will this device help to prevent burglars from entering through my windows?

The Lock-it Block-it allows for adjustment of 1 inch or more. This means people can keep their windows open and locked in at the recommended height. Will the Lock-it Block-it obstruct my view?

Can I use the Lock-it Block-it in my Double Hung window?
The Lock-it Block-it is only recommended as a security device for Double Hung windows when it's used as a secondary locking device when the window is completely shut.
When left open, because double hung windows can be opened from the top, the Lock-it Block-it can be reached and removed by criminal. As a work around, the Lock-it Block-it could be permanently attached to the window structure. However, permanent attachment is not recommended as this can cause permanent blocking of the exit in the event of an emergency.
I have windows that wind out. Can I use the Lock-it Block-it in those windows?
The Lock-it Block-it is not recommended for windows with cranks, or windows that push outward, or pull inward.
Can I stick the Lock-it Block-it directly on the glass?
It is not recommended that the Lock-it Block-it be adhered to the glass pane of the window. Direct sunlight and changing temperatures could compromise the effectiveness of the adhesive which could severely limit the effectiveness of the device. The adhesive should be applied only to the plastic, wood, or metal track or sash of the window.
What size windows does the Lock-it Block-it fit in?
The Lock-it Block-it fits in windows and sliding doors ranging from 42 inches (3.5 feet tall or wide) to 72 inches (6 feet tall or wide). To find your approximate window size, measure your full window length from the window pane to the inside of the top window track.
What's the maximum and minimum length of the device?
The maximum extended length of the Lock-it Block-it is 31 inches. Fully collapsed, the length is 17 inches.
What's the smallest window the device fits in?
The smallest window the Lock-it Block-it fits is 42 inches. You will only be open that size window no more than 1 inch.
What's the largest window and sliding door the device fits in?
The largest window the Lock-it Block-it fits is 6 feet. When fully extended, there will be a 4 inch opening remaining. This is small enough to prevent toddlers from falling out and small enough to prevent criminals from getting in.
What is the size of the Lock-it Block-it?
The maximum width of the Lock-it Block-it cylinder is 1 x 1 inches. This makes it an ideal and snug fit for most windows.

What do I use to adhere the Lock-it Block-it to the window or sliding door?
The Lock-it Block-it can be attached to a surface of a window structure based on the customer's preference. An ideal means of attachment is the use of a Velcro. When properly attached, Velcro is very effective for holding the Lock-it Block-it in place without any threat of loosening or falling out. A minimum of two, 1 inch strips of Velcro is supplied with the device. However, it's recommended that customers purchase longer strips to be used with the supplied Velcro.
Once inserted, do I need to check the Lock-it Block-it?
Periodically check the device to confirm that the Lock-it Block-it remains securely in place. Pull on the Lock-it Block-it. If it easily detaches, firmly press it back into place, then try to remove it again. If it detaches too easily, replace the Velcro strips with a new set of medium to heavy duty Velcro purchased from a retail outlet. You can also apply longer lengths of Velcro for a more secure fit. It is not recommended to use pre-cut Velcro pieces as these sometimes aren't medium to heavy duty strength.
How thick are the walls of the device?

Why are there two sets of holes on opposite sides?
The Lock-it Block-it has two sides that contain separate series of adjustment holes. One side has a series of 13 holes for smaller adjustments of approximately 1 inch each. The other side has a series of 7 holes for wider adjustments of approximately 2 inches each. The wider adjustments accommodate for faster adjusting. Just remove the inner cylinder, turn it around, and slid it back in to use either series of holes for adjustments.
What's the purpose of the rubber ends?
The head and the foot of the Lock-it Block-it are fitted with rubber caps to protect the window from being scratched by the Lock-it Block-it.
Why is the foot of the device extended?
The foot of the Lock-it Block-it has an elongated rubber cap. This is to accommodate older windows that may have large gaps between the window and the window frame.

How many devices are in a box?

How many devices do I need per window?
For maximum security, and for large windows 3.5 - 6 feet tall or wide, it is recommended to use two devices per window. Place a Lock-it Block-it into each window track. For smaller windows, one Lock-it Block-it may be adequate enough. Per the customer's preference, two can be used as well.
Will the Lock-it Block-it save me money on my home insurance policy?
